The Zones

The classroom is organised into five distinct learning zones: the Reading and Research Zone, Digital Zone, Creative Zone, Maths Zone and STEM Zone. Each area is designed to promote independence, curiosity and purposeful learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Within every zone, children are presented with a learning challenge that encourages them to apply and transfer previously taught skills across a range of contexts and cross-curricular opportunities.

A Reflection Zone also provides children with a dedicated space to self-assess and peer-assess their learning, encouraging thoughtful reflection, constructive feedback and greater ownership of their progress.

Each zone includes a dedicated challenge board where learning is framed through an engaging question, alongside clear success criteria to support children in understanding the learning intention and expectations. To ensure accessibility and inclusion for all learners, zones often include WAGOLLs (What A Good One Looks Like), visual scaffolds and supportive resources to guide children through the learning process. Task planners are also available to support children who may need additional help with organisation, structure and managing their learning independently.
